Commodores Report February 2020 On January 11th we had our annual meeting where the officers and directors for the Yacht Club board were voted in to serve to guide our club. Thank you for allowing me to serve as your commodore for another year. I would like to thank the members that served on the 2019 board, Scott Rudebeck director, Brandon Martinek treasurer, and Bryan Mick secretary who will continue to serve on the new board. Please welcome, Diane Kuether director, Mark Zelinski director, Kevin Lillge director, Kyle Sargent director, Mike Kersten director, and Steve Uslabar Vice Commodore who make up the 2020 AYC board of officers and directors. For our board members that served I would like to recognize them for the following. Jim Kozak: Jim had served on the board for the past 14 years and held every position on the board during his tenure. Jim has truly helped to make the club a better and special place. He has given thousands of hours to help improve the club. Some of the key projects that Jim over saw were the 2012 club house remodel. Jim was our unpaid contractor manager and worked with all facets coordinating jobs. This included being at every morning meeting with Calmes construction, organizing the projects that our wonderful volunteers need to accomplish so we could control the cost of the project and keep everything on time. As commodore Jim helped secure the membership vote to repair the roof over the main covered slips, update our bylaws and renegotiation of our loan. Jim, thank you for all your service to the club. Scott Maves: Scott has served on the board for many years and like Jim he has filled many of the positions on the board. As commodore Scott guided the club through the challenges of the trail being installed through the club property and all the requirements imposed by the city and their contractor. Scott decided to step back from the board while he launches his new limo business and helps attend to family medical demands. Scott we all appreciate your devotion to the club and service. Thanks for all you do. Jerry Crossman: Jerry started at the club as a bartender years ago. He quickly fell in love with the place and ended up became a boating member. Jerry has served as our lessor and as a key member on the house committee. Jerry has given countless hours to making the club fun and inviting to all. It seems that at every club function Jerry and Marti will be there setting everything up and staying after to clean up. Jerry always has a smile and kind word or new joke. Like Scott Maves, Jerry is taking a leave to attend to family medical demands. Thank you Jerry! Todd Holmes: Todd served on the board for the past 6 years and brought his talents and knowledge of the service industry to help improve the club. Todd served as house chair and as measurer. Todd became a vessel examiner and has helped with VSC’s and installing and removing the buoy lights for many years. Todd decided to take a break from the board due to a promotion at work that is demanding more of his time along with having a new addition to his family. We thank Todd for his service. Scott Bruner: Scott served on the board several times as a director, treasure, and on many committees. Scott has given years of service to this club but recently sold his boat and focused his recreational activities elsewhere. We thank Scott for everything he has done to improve the club. With February we experience some of the coldest weather and it seems that winter will never end. Cabin fever is a side effect of the throws of winter. What better way to cure this than to get out of your cabin and come enjoy your club. We start the month with our annual Superbowl party. While we all lament the Packers not overcoming the 49’ers the game and commercials are always a great time and a fundraiser for the rest of the years parties. Please reserve your spot and invite your friends to join you for the game. If you like bird watching from a heated enclosure the club is the place to be. When the temps plummet the eagles really start hanging out around the club as this stretch of the river is the last to freeze. Ducks, geese and all sorts of other birds and animals congregate around the open water. The club makes a great place to gather with you friends or family to play cards, enjoy a meal, or watch the Bucks, Badgers, Marquette or other televised sports. I know that the club is a great place to take your Valentine.
Check our Facebook or Instagram pages for more info. Please watch for our new members party coming in the beginning of March. Please make every effort to come and welcome all the new members that joined your club. I would like to list the new officers so if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments you know who to contact.
In February our officers are recruiting members to fill committee positions so if you want to be part of this organization please let these people know.

FROM THE HOUSE
I want to start off by saying 2019 was such a great success. I am blown away by the spirit of our members and those who dedicate their time to put towards their club. In the past year, we did a number of improvements and made proper adjustments to better service everyone. With all of the changes we’ve made, the years ahead of us are going to be that much better. I want to give a special thank you to the members and members of the board that went above and beyond including John Luck, Bob Goldman, & Kevin Lilge, and my house committee Charlie & Patty Klein, Jerry Crossman, Andy, Ashleigh, and our head chef, Matt, with their help we were able to replace the entry gate locks, repaint the patio furniture, fixed the broken water line under the bar room, replaced bar lighting, added a storage room under the stairwell, replaced dishwasher, hosted a number of events that brought in great revenue for the club including but not limited to St. Patricks’, March madness, summer party, multiple wine tastings, commodore’s ball. I am beyond thrilled with the feedback we have received and look forward to what we have in store for the years to come. We have decided to send Andy and three other essential employees to the National Restaurant Association Show to familiarize themselves and create new ideas we can use here! I hope you are all as excited as I am and truly believe we have a solid foundation to grow on!
It’s your club, make it great!
